Disabled Peoples Ministry

This is an exciting and life changing ministry, giving us daily opportunities to positively impact vulnerable lives. The main goal of this project is to offer individualized help to people who are living challenged lives because of a disability.

"Hidden No More! Yes this is our Vision." You can find these words describing a local ministry for disabled people in a third world country. Unfortunately, disabled people in undeveloped countries are often seen as a “shame to the family”, or even a “curse of God”. This is a tragic reality that is sad beyond belief. Abuse among this population is enormous and intervention helps are rare. Most are unable to exercise their own social or human rights, and therefore are dependent on the help of others to live safe and protected lives. Often disabled people are shut away, chained in the house, and not allowed to be seen. It is common for them to become mentally unstable and even develop serious mental illnesses. So this is why it is such an important and courageous proclamation for a ministry to say: "Hidden No More! Yes, this is our Vision".

It is also our hope to see them learn valuable life skills that will help them grow to become more independent and if possible, to teach them marketable job skills for a brighter future.

One of our ministry partners describes themselves in this way:

"We are a group of enthusiastic people living with disabilities which challenge our lives at every turn. However, with the grace of God we know we can overcome these obstacles and live our lives to their maximum potential. We believe, 'Disability is NOT Inability'. John 16:33 says, 'I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world'. "

The SMI services offered in this project include, but are not limited to:

Please continue to pray:
That God would work in the lives of many more families who care for disabled people
For all our participants to gain the courage and the needed stamina to keep trying so they may continue to learn new things
For each worker involved, that they may receive the extra patience and love required for this work, and that God would bless each one
